Personal Development
Our school culture supports and extends personal development for our pupils, through our planned curriculum and wider school experiences. Our curriculum aims to deliver learning, which includes providing our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding, in order to be successful citizens both as children and into adulthood.
We encourage our children to express their opinions and through collective worship and PSHE teaching, children are encouraged to engage with views and beliefs, which differ from their own. Our R.E. learning journey provides pupils with the opportunities to visit places of worship in each year group and develop an awareness and understanding of different faiths. We promote a healthy lifestyle and ensure that opportunities for children to learn and develop extend beyond the classroom.
We have a proactive approach in developing pupil voice and empower pupils to take an active role in making positive changes to our school.
The School Council team lead on this and deliver class meetings and assemblies to support pupils across school and have developed links with the local community – we have adopted Bramley Train Station and they have taken an active role in showcasing our artwork there.
We have an Anti-Bullying Ambassadors group who have received training for the Diana Award. They deliver assemblies detailing key messages and support children to maintain our positive culture in school – which includes wellbeing initiatives.
Our Eco Warriors group focus on how we can reduce our carbon footprint and take proactive steps to protect the environment. They were actively involved in the installation of solar panels on our roof and meet regularly with Solar for Schools.
We have British Values Ambassadors who deliver assemblies and support children by sharing and championing the key values across school.
Our Playtime Pals group have been trained by a specialist coach to deliver playground games across school – engaging children in being active at playtimes and lunchtimes.
Our WOW Ambassadors take an active role in recording how children travel to school and have a walk to school initiative in place.
At Greenhill, we also offer a range of extra-curricular clubs to develop pupils’ skills and nurture talent. These clubs include STEAM club, skipping, yoga, dance, boxing, board games, art and football.
